In loving memory, Phyllis Lorayne Boling Kaufman passed peacefully October 7,2025.

Phyllis was born December 12, 1932 in Laurel, Nebraska.  Logging opportunities led her family to North Idaho and the Bolings resided in Kootenai outside Sandpoint before moving to the city and graduating a mighty Sandpoint Bulldog cheerleader for her future husband Pat Kaufman, and Vandals George Eidam and Jerry Kramer (NFL HOF).  She attended the University of Idaho before KIDS became her career.

Mom and Dad brought future Borah Lions Lisa, Mark, Kori, Mike, Steve, and Rich to Boise in 1968 and Dad taught and coached at Boise High.  Mom was not on "the sidelines" for long as she found a way to incredibly enroll not at a young age in Boise Police Academy starting her career with Boise Police and ACSD. She attained the rank of Deputy Ada County Sheriff and helped pioneer the newly-created Neighborhood Watch program.

A unique way to look at Mom's/Nana's life is through the eyes of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Here is an excerpt:

Nana lived 92 incredible years, and what a life she made of them.  She was a trailblazer before her time:  a Deputy of ACSD and a proud pioneer of Neighborhood Watch, and the kind of woman who somehow convinced Grandpa Pat to dress up in the McGruff costume.

She was the matriarch of our big, loud, loving family that grew into generations of cousins and great grandchildren who will all carry a piece of her with us.  Nana was a loyal Vandal supporter who aged with beauty, grace, and vibrance.

Her laughter and her strength and her heart will stay with us always.

We will keep watching out for each other, honor you with every breath we take and each Blue Moon or Black Russian we drink.

We love you Nana.
