Kathryn Agnes Weatherlow

August 24, 1955 – October 7, 2025

Our family is heartbroken to share that Kathryn Agnes Weatherlow, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on October 7, 2025. To those who knew and loved her, she was affectionately called Mom, Grandma Kake, and GG.

Kate was born on August 24, 1955, to Eloise Taylor and John Wellenkotter, and grew up with her siblings Henry Wellenkotter and Franc Chermak. She began her journey as a mother in 1973, when she married Gerald Newton, together they created three beautiful children: Jeramy Michael (“My Boy Roy”), Mandi Lee (“My Little Soldier”), and Andrea Kathryn (“Andi Pondi”).

In the 1980s, Kate married Clayton Ferrell and became a loving stepmother to his daughter, Cher Hope. In the 1990s, she married her final husband, Larry Weatherlow, and embraced his two sons, Larry Jr. and Scott. She loved all three as her own.

She was a proud and devoted aunt to Kerrii, Jason, Justin, Jessyca, and Katie—especially honored to share her name with the youngest.

Kate was a magical grandmother to Nicole, Whitney, Chanze, Nik, Gabby, Dariane, and Jon. As GG Kake, she brought joy and wonder into the lives of her great-grandchildren: Tecoa, Harlo, Kyrie, Kylar, Coraline, JJ, Odyssey and Jaycee.

A true lover of animals, Kate shared her heart and home with many cherished pets. She would sing and howl “Home Sweet Home” with the family dog, Baby, and sip morning coffee with the family cat, Rebopp. Her love extended to her grand-pets—Medusa, Ben Bruce, and Meesha Malee.

Kate lived a life full of love, laughter, and absolute devotion to her family and friends. She was a ray of sunshine whose presence brightened every room. Always the “Hostus with the Mostus,” she gave generously, celebrated joyfully, and made every holiday magical—often with nothing more than sugar, butter, and boundless love.

Gracious, elegant, and full of class, Kate carried herself with true lady-like charm. She passed down not only her manners and warmth but also her infectious laughter and unforgettable smile. Whether she knew the words or not, she loved to sing at the top of her lungs and dance with her girlfriends, making memories that she treasured deeply.

A proud fan of the Denver Broncos, she never missed a chance to watch and chat about the team’s performance with fellow diehards.

Kate spent the first 30+ years of her life in Alamosa, and her final 30+ years in Colorado Springs where she could be close to her son.

She was raised and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa, where she also baptized her children. It is only fitting that she will be honored there during her funeral services.

A Rosary will be led by her beloved friend, Marge Martinez, at 9:30 AM on October 25, 2025, with Mass at 10:00 AM. Please join us at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 715 Fourth St.

Reception to follow in the gym at the First United Methodist Church, 2005 Mullins Ave.

Kate adored her children beyond measure. One of her final wishes was for us to remember the song Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper—her loving reminder that no matter what, she would always be by our side… time after time.
