George William Tyndall, Jr.
November 21st, 1933 - September 25th, 2025
George Tyndall passed away peacefully on 25 September 2025, in Puyallup Washington at the age of 91. Many knew him as George, Bruce, Junior, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. Pre-deceased by Patricia his wife of 65 years, brother Dicky, and half-sister Helen, George leaves behind children George, Diane, Jennie, Chantel, sisters Joyce and Dorothy, and brothers Doug, Donald, Harold, Tommy, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in North Carolina to George and Isabel Tyndall, George (Junior) was the oldest of 8 children. His military life started calling early, actually too early! He was underage and knowingly enlisted in the Army at age 17 but was quickly pulled out by his father. He re-enlisted at age 18 and began his Air Force career and served in Korean and Vietnam.
While stationed at McChord Air Force Base, George met and married Patricia and fondly nicknamed each other Bruce and Floss. Their family grew to six and their military adventure took them around the globe including France, Philippines, California, Kansas, Washington and Greenland. He proudly served his country for over 20 years, returning to McChord AFB where he retired in 1972. After retirement, and having a second career in automotives, George and Pat remained connected and committed to their military community including the Protestant Chapel. With his military Veteran’s hat and Madigan sweatshirts, George’s dedication was never in question.
Family and friends will remember his infectious smile, sense of humor, fun spirit, friendly personality and his unconstrained howling laughter. His grandkids fondly knew him as ‘Grandpa Duck’ as he brought them smiles as he did his Donald Duck impersonation, which was very impressive. He enjoyed many activities with family and friends including dancing, bowling, fishing, jewelry making, and golf.
George Tyndall will be celebrated, with military honors, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
