It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Talmadge McLemore, who departed this life peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 94, in Marshallville, Georgia. Born on September 13, 1931, in Rochelle, Georgia, George lived a life filled with dedication, love, and service.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Jospeh McLemore and Mary Rhodes McLemore, along with his beloved son, Steven McLemore, and four brothers. He is survived by his devoted spouse of 54 years, Avis M. McLemore; his son, David Allen McLemore; and his stepdaughter, Sherry (David) Dawson. His legacy is further honored by the presence of 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of extended friends and family who cherished him dearly.
George dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force, after which he continued to contribute his skills at Robins Air Force Base as an aircraft modifier. His career was marked by a steadfast commitment to his work and a genuine curiosity about the world around him. Those who knew George remember him as a kind, loyal, honest, and curious soul. His interactions were always guided by a warm smile and an open heart, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Known for his remarkable passion for the great outdoors, particularly his love of the mountains and camping. He found peace and joy in nature, spending countless weekends exploring trails, setting up camp under the stars, and gathering around the fire with friends and family. His adventurous spirit was infectious, inspiring those around him to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man who touched many lives. In this time of sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved George Talmadge McLemore. His spirit will forever be a part of us, living on through the cherished memories we share.
