She volunteered in the District 6 school community as a member of the District Accountability Committee and on a curriculum committee.

As the girls entered college she began working during the fall and spring rush at the Aims Bookstore and eventually took a full-time job there as a book buyer. Where she also got her forklift operator certification. She retired in June of 2007.
In retirement she enjoyed travelling with Wayne and the girls and their families as well as visiting friends and relatives.
