Harold T. Barnett (Mickey) was born January 26,1958 in Oceanside, NY.  He grew up in Freeport, NY with his parents Harold and Jeanne. He had 3 older siblings, Stephen, Beverly, Gary and 2 younger siblings, Tim and Lisa.

He met his wife Jo Ann in 1982 and they married in 1985.  They had their first son, Ryan in 1986 while living in NY.  In 1988, they moved to the Pocono Mountains in PA and they were expecting their second son Tyler.  Two years later in 1990 they had their daugher Alexa.

Mickey worked for Pitney Bowes when he lived in PA.  He traveled every day to New Jersey but it never seemed to bother him because he knew he was coming home to his mountain chalet.  He loved being in the mountains and all the beauty they offered.  He would feed the bear ( he named him BooBoo), the deer, the chipmunks and the red fox in his backyard.

After 8 years in PA, Mickey and family relocated to Indian Harbour Beach, FL.  Mickey spent a good part of his life volunteering in things he was passionate about.  He volunteered in Indian Harbour Beach Little League for all the years his sons played baseball.  He coached them every year and also maintained the fields.  He made sure every team had a freshly raked and lined field.  He wanted all the teams to play on nicely kept fields.

When the family got a Golden Retriever, Mickey started volunteering at Space Coast Therapy Dogs.  He would take Rex to nursing homes and hospitals.  Rex would get so excited when he saw Mickey put on the Space Coast shirt. Mickey would always say that everyone loved the big red dog.

After Rex died, Mickey started volunteering at Save The Chimps Sanctuary in Fort Pierce Florida.  He would drive 3 hours round trip to make the chimps snacks.  He loved going there and mostly he loved when he could spend time with the chimps.

Mickey was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community.  He had a strong faith in God.  He attended a Mens retreat at the church and he also volunteered to head a pre cana table with Jo Ann.  He loved to sing at mass.  That was his favorite.  He would leave mass still singing and sometimes even pull the songs up on his tablet to hear them again!

Mickey always wanted to take a trip to Yellowstone in Montana.  His wish came true a few years ago when Mickey and Jo Ann took a trip with his best friend Steve and wife Bev. This was something he always wanted to do and he was so happy he was able to do it and do it with people he loved.  It was a memory he always loved to think about.

Mickey always said it was his job to make sure he raised productive, respectful children and he did.  Mickey was extremely proud of his children.  He couldn’t talk about them enough.  He was also very happy they all found amazing spouses who he loved.  When the grandchildren started being born he was so excited.  His grandchildren really gave him a will to keep living.  He adored them.  He loved nothing better than spending time with his kids and grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jo Ann, son Ryan-daughter in law Gisell, son Tyler-daughter in law Kassie, daughter Alexa-son in law Skyler. Mickey has 6 granchildren- Mattie, Tessa, Theo, Bo, Archer and Skyler Jr.

Mickey is also survived by his sister Lisa-husband Kevin and brother Tim-wife Donna as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community beginning with a visitation at 10:30am, Mass at 11:00am and interment in the Church garden immediately following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mickey's memory to https://savethechimps.org/donate/.
