Robert “Bob” Walton Phillips (78) - Bob passed away October 19, 2025. Born in Gastonia, NC, he was a son of the late Sam J. Phillips, Jr. and Nannie Sue Phillips. Bob graduated from Airport High School in 1966. He retired as the owner of Bob’s Shop in Lexington. Bob knew everything about the cars of yesteryear and restored too many to recount with his son. He enjoyed his role as Grandaddy to Nolan and Addie Phillips, and his honorary granddaughter Brooke Davis.
Bob is survived by his son, Henry Phillips (Bonnie) of Lexington; grandchildren, Nolan and Addie Phillips; honorary granddaughter, Brooke Davis; sister, Pat Brown (Paul); brother, James Phillips (Frances); brother-in-law, Chuck Davis (Althea), Mike Davis (Michelle); and sister-in-law, Glenda Davis. Bob is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Janet Phillips; and brothers, Ben Phillips and Joe Phillips.
A graveside service will be held on October 24, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. in Woodridge Memorial Park. If you plan to attend, please dress comfortably. If you have a car related T-shirt, wear that.
The family would like to thank the many friends who called and offered their condolences. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Lexington Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do a burnout for Bob at the appropriate time.
