Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Herta Maria Fichtenberg
June 8th, 1934 - October 21st, 2025
Herta Maria Fichtenberg was born in East Prussia on June 8, 1934, and passed peacefully from this life at her home in North Port, Florida, on October 21, 2025.
In 1955, Herta immigrated to the United States and, the following year, married Rev. Rudolf Fichtenberg. Together, they faithfully served German-speaking congregations in Union City, NJ; Racine, WI; and Flint, MI. After her husband’s passing, Herta remained in Flint, where she pursued studies at the local community college and became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Herta was deeply devoted to her faith and remained active in church life throughout her years. In Michigan, she was a beloved member of Westwood Church of God in Flint, where she formed many cherished friendships. Later, she relocated to North Port, Florida, where she found joy in gardening, swimming in the Gulf, enjoying the Warm Mineral Springs, and worshiping at the First Church of God in Venice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Martha Zeiler; her brothers Gerhard, Alfred, and Heinz; her sisters Ruth Siebenbuerger and Elvira Osowski; stepdaughters Dorothea Limpert and Marta Kilp; stepsons Daniel and Hans Fichtenberg and daughter-in-law, April Fichtenberg.
Herta is survived by her stepdaughter Edeltraut Mueller and husband Horst of Englewood, FL; her son Raymond Fichtenberg and wife Ursula of Flint, MI; and her son Ronald Fichtenberg and wife Melanie of North Port, FL. She is also lovingly remembered by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Herta was a kind and gentle soul, who exemplified love, grace, and compassion. She always had a warm smile and an encouraging word. Her legacy of faith and caring for others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Church of God, 351 Orange Rd., Venice, FL 34293, on Saturday, October 25. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
