Forever Remembered
With hearts full of love and faith, we celebrate the life of Lotus (Lotey) Goff Smith, who went home to be with her Lord on October 20, 2025. Surrounded by family, Lotey entered eternal rest at the age of 81. Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice knowing she is reunited with loved ones in Heaven—together again in the presence of the Lord.
Lotey’s days were rooted in prayer, kindness, and gratitude for the people God placed in her path. She met every season of life with grace and unwavering faith in God’s promises. She found joy in life’s simple blessings—a warm cup of coffee, a good conversation, and time spent with her community. She was an active member of King’s Daughters and the FCL since 1996. Her compassion, warmth, and quiet strength left an imprint on all who knew her, and she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel at home.
Those who knew Lotey will remember her gentle heart, comforting words, and steadfast positivity.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24
Lotey lived each day as a reflection of that verse—rejoicing in the Lord’s goodness, no matter the circumstance. Her faith, joyful spirit, and grace will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
Lotey is survived by her daughter, Michelle; her grandchildren, Erik and Raven; and her great-grandson, Braxten, who will forever cherish the wisdom, warmth, and love she shared so freely. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James M. Smith, and her parents, Leonard and Dottie Goff.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mount Elon Baptist Church in Lotey’s memory, in honor of her generous and faithful spirit.
Known to so many people as Momma Lotey and Memaw, her quick wit and humor made her a joy to be around. She will be loved, remembered, and missed by all the lives she touched.
