Osvaldo "Val" Alcorcha Valenzuela
June 26th, 1940 - October 15th, 2025
Osvaldo “Val” Alcorcha Valenzuela II, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Though his family is deeply saddened by his passing, they are comforted knowing he is no longer in pain and has been reunited with his beloved wife, Martha; his sons Luis, Joe, Tony, and Jessie; and his parents, Virginia and Leandro Gonzales.
Born on June 26, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, Val lived a life defined by dedication, humor, and love for his family. A proud United States Marine, he served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of service and resilience into every part of his life. Following his military service, Val worked a variety of jobs to help support his mother and siblings, always demonstrating a tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He eventually found himself employed at AlliedSignal.
After more than 15 years of hard work, Val took an early retirement and cashed in his pension to help support his wife, Martha, and her heartfelt insistence on raising five of their granddaughters. Never one to sit still, he later started his own cleaning business, showing once again his drive, independence, and devotion to family.
Val’s quick wit and love of a good joke—especially his own—brought laughter and warmth to every room he entered.
He was a man of routine—starting each morning with the newspaper and the news before settling in to watch The Price Is Right at 9 a.m. Afterward, he’d enjoy his cowboy reruns until nap time, often referring to himself as “John Wayne.” That comforting rhythm of his days and his larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons Valdo, Steve, Michael, and Albert; his five granddaughters whom he lovingly helped raise—Annette, Serena, Valerie, and the two Michelles; and his brother, Tony. His love, laughter, and guidance will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 141 N Macdonald Mesa, AZ 85201 with a visitation and Military Honors at Meldrum Mortuary 52 N Macdonald Mesa, AZ 85201to follow to honor Val’s memory.
