Gregory McDougal

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory McDougal Sr of Smoaks, South Carolina, a beloved family member and an esteemed member of our community. Born on February 24, 1961, he departed from this world on October 18, 2025.

Gregory was a man of great character and resilience, known for his light-heartedness and great sense of humor. He was an ardent supporter of the Clemson Tigers, deriving great pleasure from watching their games. He had a passion for hands-on activities, with much of his spare time dedicated to working in his shop, building his race car and watching Moonshiners. He found peace and joy in fishing, using fishing as a way to connect with nature, reflect, and spend meaningful time with family and friends.

His unwavering dedication was evident in his personal and professional commitments. He was proudly married to Cindy McDougal for 43 years, proudly served 21 years in the Army National Guard and committed 20 years to the Fire Service where he was raised to the rank of Captain, showing an unwavering commitment to serving his community. Gregory was a consummate entrepreneur who successfully established and ran his own towing business. His work ethic was second to none and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work.

Gregory is survived by his son Mitchell McDougal, his daughter Candace Savage (Jeremy), his brothers Robert McDougal Jr. Jamie McDougal and Patrick McDougal, and his sister Glenda Floyd. His memory will be cherished by his grandsons, Ashton Wagers, Jac McDougal, and Aydan McDougal, and his granddaughters, Dannah McDougal, Aurora Savage and Stella Savage.

He was predeceased by his wife Cindy McDougal (recently deceased on January 16th, 2025), his parents, Robert McDougal Sr. and Mary McDougal, whose memory he held dear. The void left by Gregory's passing will be felt by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. on November 18, 2025 at Faith Church,  1286 N U.S. Hwy 52, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
