Victor Leonard Herzog
July 22nd, 1938 - October 10th, 2025
Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, remembered for his love of family, boundless curiosity, and zest for life.
Victor Leonard Herzog, born on July 22, 1938, in Antwerp, Belgium, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the home of his loving daughter and son-in-law in Colorado, who lovingly cared for him during the last two years of his life.
Victor spent his early years in Nice, France, before immigrating to the United States with his family at the age of 14. They arrived aboard the ship La Liberté on March 5, 1953, entering through the port of New York. He was the son of Herbert William Herzog of Vienna, Austria, and Brocha Herzog of Łomża, Poland.
Victor had four siblings: Jean Marie Rasmussen (deceased), Annette Claudier Levine, Michael Herzog, and Richard Herzog (deceased).
From a young age, Victor displayed a vibrant spirit and entrepreneurial drive. He went on to open and operate two French restaurants—The Nutshell French Café in Los Angeles, California, and La Galerie French Café in Tucson, Arizona—both beloved local establishments known for their warmth and charm.
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Victor served his adopted country with dedication and honor.
Throughout his life, Victor found joy in family and the simple pleasures of good food, conversation, and laughter. He was married three times and was the loving father of three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He is survived by his children Tiffany Carras and her husband Tom Carras; David Herzog and his wife Stephanie Herzog; and Melissa Sparks and her husband Christian Sparks; his grandchildren Cody Carras, CJ Carras, Skylar Carras, Tiffany Herzog, Destiny Herzog, and Shannon Herzog; his great-grandchild Jackson Miles Jerman; and his step-grandchildren Aidan Sparks, Keeler Sparks, and Kenley Sparks.
Victor’s family and friends will remember him for his adventurous spirit, determination, and enduring love for life.
A military service will be held on October 29, 2025, at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
