Jason James Lattary

December 6, 1970 – October 20, 2025 (almost 55)

Jason James Lattary, age 54, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a year-long battle with lymphoma.

Born in St. Paul on December 6, 1970, Jason grew up with his mom and brother, Brad. Jason spent most of his life in St. Paul before moving to Apple Valley after the loss of his mother over 10 years ago.

Jason was known for a quiet life, as well as his curious talkativeness, love for Star Wars, unique perspective on everything, and fondness for sports attire—especially shoes and caps. He delighted friends and family with short, quirky stories about his own adventures in life, which always brought a chuckle.

Jason was blessed in his early days by his mother’s love, which later blossomed into the deep friendships he formed at his childhood church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the Midway. He created lifelong memories through the influence of his childhood pastors, Craig Richter & Joy Johnson, whose relentless compassion and unwavering kindness left a lasting mark with ripple effects on his life. Friends Jeff, Joe, and Terri walked alongside Jason for most of his life, sharing each other’s joys and challenges with steadfast friendship.

In his later years, Jason lived with his cousins, sharing a home in Apple Valley. Though each led their own routines, they shared quiet companionship and a deep sense of loyal family connection that grounded his final years.

Finally, Jason also found deep meaning, purpose, and belonging with his “Cub Family” in Apple Valley—a hard-working team whose camaraderie and humor brightened his days and gave him daily friendships and connections. (Thank you Erica for your friendship with Jason!)

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Trudy Jean (Forsberg) Lattary and Leroy James Lattary, and his grandparents Lillian and Nels Forsberg. He is survived by his brother, Bradley; aunts Joyce Dehn and Linda Forsberg; uncle Larry Dehn; and cousins Robert and Donald Dehn, and Eric and Kevin Dockham.

A Celebration of Life is tentatively planned for December 6, 2025, in St. Paul. Jason will be cremated and laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Centuria, Wisconsin, at a later date.

No ceremony, gifts, or flowers - just join in the celebration on his birthday. We will have an open mic for everyone to share their favorite "Jason Story".
