Alva Howard, 91, husband of Wanda Lou Bays Howard, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 in Lexington, Kentucky. He Was Born in Baughman, Kentucky on December 7, 1933 to the late Mary Asher and Bradley William Howard, Sr.
Mr. Howard earned a bachelor's degree from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, and a master's degree from Michigan State University. After a career of teaching in Michigan he retired to his family home in Baughman where he enjoyed taking care of the farm. His last fifteen years were spent near his family in Wilmore, and Nicholasville, Kentucky. He loved gardening, canning, chess, badminton, and hiking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Barbourville.
Besides his wife of 71 years, Wanda, those left to cherish his memory include his daughters Becky (Barney) Judd, Roberta (David) Burdette, his grandchildren; Julia (Jason) Williams, Kevin (Rachelle) Burdette, Andrea Burdette (Matthew Peterson), Barney Judd III, Kyle (Chelsea) Burdette, and 8 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be planned at a later date.
