Marty Lewis was born on January 24, 1955, in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, to William and Gretchen Lewis. He grew up in Westfield alongside his two brothers and one sister, proudly taking his place as the second of four children.

In 1972, Marty answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. During his service aboard the USS Edward McDonnell and the USS Yosemite, he earned the National Defense Medal and the respect of all who served beside him. His naval career took him across the world — to Spain, London, Portugal, Tunisia, and beyond — experiences he cherished for the rest of his life.

After his honorable discharge in 1976, Marty eventually made his way to Colorado, where he met Elizabeth in 1983. Together, they built a family and were blessed with one son and two daughters. In 2005, Marty and Elizabeth parted ways, but his love and dedication to his children remained unwavering.

A few years later, while working in heavy equipment for the Ramstetter family, Marty’s life took an unexpected and joyful turn. In 2007, he visited a barn to “meet a lady about a cat,” this is where he met Tema Lynn, who would become the great love of his life. That visit brought even more joy nine months later, with the arrival of his youngest daughter, Lacy “Doodle Bug” Brooklyn, in July 2007.

Marty, Tema, and Lacy made their home in Golden, Colorado, until 2021, when Marty worked tirelessly to purchase their first home in Julesburg — a dream come true. It was there he hoped to retire, spend time with friends, and enjoy being just a few blocks away from one of his favorite places — the drag strip.

Marty found joy in life’s simple and shared moments. He loved NASCAR and drag racing, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He was happiest surrounded by family and friends, whether celebrating holidays and birthdays, sharing laughs, or simply sitting together with his trademark humor — “I’ve been here for ten minutes, and you haven’t even loaded a bowl yet!”

Marty passed away peacefully at home, just as he wished, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

He is lovingly survived by:

His brothers Mike and Tom Lewis.

His son Zack and wife Bernadette Lewis, and their children Calin, Sydney, and Sylvi.

His daughter Lindsay and her son Austin Martin.

His daughter Tahnee and her children Juanita, Rhiley, Tavion, and Jeremiah.

His youngest daughter Lacy “Doodle Bug” Brooklyn.

Marty was reunited in Heaven with his beloved parents William and Gretchen Lewis, his “Honey Bunch” Tema Lisco, his sister Valerie Lewis, his brother Geoff Cobb, and many more loved ones who surely greeted him with open arms.

A service honoring Marty’s life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado, 80236.

All who knew and loved Marty are welcome to join as we celebrate the life of a devoted father, proud veteran, and loyal friend.

“Those we love don’t go away — they walk beside us every day.”
