With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" A. Lester, who peacefully departed this world on October 27, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia, at the venerable age of 97. Born on April 19, 1928, in Birmingham, Alabama, Betty led a life steeped in love, family, and unwavering faith.
Betty was a proud member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at the Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia, where her spirit and kindness touched many. Her dedication to her faith and her community reflected the grace with which she approached life. In her cherished career, she retired from Houston Medical Center, having devoted many years of her life to the comfort and care of others in numerous hospitals. Her compassion and dedication made a significant impact on countless lives, a testament to her nurturing character. Betty's legacy extends through her beloved family. She is survived by her devoted daughters-in-law, Jane Lester, Meredith Lester, and Susan Lester, and her loving grandchildren: Taryn (Ryan) Coleman, Jonathan (Bethany) Lester, Jordan (Kristin) Lester, Connor (Samantha) Lester, Gabrielle (Justin) Hukill, and Matthew (Kellie) Lester. Additionally, she leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, sister, Annetta Brown, and a host of extended friends and family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Betty's journey in life was beautifully complemented by her beloved husband, Stanley C. Lester, who preceded her in death along with their dear sons, Rick Lester, Jim Lester, and Stan Lester. They now rest peacefully together, a reunion of love that transcends this world.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home at 3:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life. Betty will be laid to rest beside her cherished husband, Stanley C. Lester Sr., a final resting place infused with their shared love.
In this time of sorrow, we remember Betty not just for the incredible woman she was, but for the multitude of lives she touched with her kindness, unwavering spirit, and remarkable grace. Her memory will live on in our hearts, a guiding light of love and warmth. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
