Dr. Michael L. Bogdue, born on December 8, 1940 in Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of honor, faith, and service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bea Hart, father John Bogdue, and brother Richard (Dee) Hansen. He is survived by his wife Lloydene, children John (Cindy) and Namkang, grandchildren Leah Morais (Shane) and Nicholas, and sister Bonnie Breedlove.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Bogdue dedicated over 30 years of service to his country, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 1987. He was one of only thirty-two soldiers to receive a battlefield commission during the Vietnam War and was awarded 82 military honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, 23 Air Medals for Valor, two Bronze Stars for Valor, and multiple Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry.
Beyond his military service, Dr. Bogdue was a lifelong learner and entrepreneur who earned multiple advanced degrees and started multiple businesses. He had doctorate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology and was recognized in Who’s Who of American Business Leaders and Who’s Who Worldwide for his leadership and intellect. Among his multiple professions, he was also a commercial pilot, sea captain, real estate and insurance professional, accountant, locksmith, scuba instructor, teacher/counselor and award-winning poet. His writings reflected his faith, gratitude, and love of life.
Above all, Dr. Bogdue was a devoted husband, father, and man of God whose kindness and integrity touched all who knew him. In his later years, he found joy in raising and racing Thoroughbred horses in Marion County and serving retired veterans.
Cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at 910 E Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00pm.

Dr. Bogdue’s courage, wisdom, and compassion will be remembered always. His duty is complete, his race well run, and his legacy eternal.
