Arnulfo P. Lopez, also known as "Nudy" to his family and close friends, 93, of Greeley, CO passed away Oct 21st, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

 

Arnulfo was the son of Martina (Padilla) and Francisco Lopez. He was born and raised in Greeley, in a large family, being one of fourteen children. At 13 years old, his father passed away and he dropped out of school to go to work to help his mother care for his three younger siblings, Sam, Rico, and Palmer. During his life, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for about 4 years then went to work at the Monfort packing plant, where he retired after 30 years. After retirement, he stayed home for a while, traveled and spent time with his grandkids. In 1995, Along side his wife, he helped open and run the Children’s Clinic in Greeley, where he spent another 15 years working maintenance for the building. One of his best qualities was the amazing work ethic he had.

 

In 1955, he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Leina Montoya, together they had three beautiful children, 2 sons, Arnulfo Jr. and Joseph and a daughter, Anna, and later on 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arnulfo and Leina shared 70 wonderful years together before his passing. Arnulfo was an AVID Colorado Rockies fan and always enjoyed his Denver Broncos. He was crazy about the game of baseball, even if the Rockies were not playing, you could always find him on the couch, watching baseball. His love for baseball started early in his life. Back in the 60's he played Semi- Pro baseball with the Greeley Grays, alongside his brothers and lifelong friends, he was a great ball player and when he talked about that part of his life, his eyes would light up and you could see and hear the passion he had for it. 

 

Arnulfo is survived by his wife of 70 years, Leina Lopez of Greeley. Son Joseph (Alice) Lopez of Greeley. Daughter Anna (Chris) Lujan of Evans. Granddaughter Larissa Martinez of Northglenn, CO, Grandson Eric Martinez, Granddaughters Sarah Lopez (Anthony Azari) and Victoria (Otis) Everett all of Greeley, also 8 Great Grandchildren Hugo, Esperanza, Azaelia, Malakai, Marina, Makayla, Maya and Giovanni. 

 

Arnulfo was preceded in death by his mother Martina,father Francisco, son Arnulfo Jr., daughter Rosalind, grandson Joshua, sister Jennie, 11 brothers, but most recently, Samuel, Palmer and Rico.  

 

A visitation for Arnulfo will be held Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, 5pm-7pm at Adamson Life Celebration Home 2000 47th Ave Greeley, CO 80634. Rosary and funeral mass will be held at 9am Thursday November 6th, 2025 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 915 12th St Greeley, CO 80631. Reception immediately to follow is the parish reception hall.
