William "Billy" H. Threatt
November 9th, 1957 - October 27th, 2025
Gone Hunting!
William H. Threatt, 67, of Hopkins, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on October 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on November 9, 1957, in Manning, South Carolina, to the late William and Virginia (Sauls) Threatt.
William, known fondly as “Billy” to many, lived life to the fullest. He was the life of every party and could make anyone laugh with his quick wit and infectious smile. He was famous among family and friends for his legendary Tarzan yell—many said he did it better than Tarzan himself.
A hardworking man with a passion for both people and the land, William was a lifelong farmer who raised ginkgo trees, cows, pigs, and chickens. He also owned and operated several local businesses over the years, including W.T. Construction, B&L Amoco, and B&L Express. An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless weekends at Riverside Hunting Club, where he shared laughter, stories, and friendship.
William was a member of The Presbyterian Church at Manning and attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
He is survived by his three children, Ginny (Jamie), William (Jessica), and Lauren (Lawrence); ten grandchildren, Ashlyn (Andrew), Kylie (Antonio), Kalyn, Tess, Kaleb, Georgia, Cooper, Josie, Teagan, and Tyndall; and three great-grandchildren, Marion, Azaleah, and Victoria. He also leaves behind his beloved and spoiled dog, Izzy; his former wife and dear friend, Liz; and many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Threatt; his sisters, Ann Mathis and Jean Stack; and his brother, Morgan Threatt.
The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM with Reverend Walter Dinkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be William Threatt III, Christopher Laurel, Lawrence Arnold, Dennis Pritchard, Nicholas Marshall, Cody Pritchard, and Tony Lucarelli. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Stack, Paul Hanna, and David Motes.
William will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love for his family, and his unmatched ability to make others smile. His stories, laughter, and “Tarzan yell” will echo in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
