Ruth Joy Throne
April 25th, 1927 - October 27th, 2025
Ruth Joy Throne, most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus Christ on Monday, October 27, 2025. Ruth was born April 25, 1927 in Montgomery, Michigan to the late Rev. Lyle M. Owen and Luzene Belle Owen (Scoville). Ruth met the love of her life, Paul Throne, when her family moved to Pioneer, Ohio in the sixth grade. Ruth graduated from Blissfield High School (Michigan) in 1945. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1948 in Montpelier, Ohio and moved to Hobart, Indiana in 1949. In October 2017, they relocated from the city they loved to Sun City Center, Florida to live near family. Ruth and Paul joined the Hobart First United Methodist Church in 1949. Ruth moved her membership to Indian Rocks Church in Largo, Florida in 2024.
Ruth lived her unwaivering Christian faith by example and was known for her unconditional love, humor, and wisdom. She taught us to live life as it comes, love others above ourselves, and remember "actions speak louder than words." Daily, her family witnessed Ruth's empathy and selfless love. Ruth was the "Power behind the Throne." She was a most wonderful sister, aunt, and friend. Ruth enjoyed travel, music, theater, watching sports, and time with family and friends. Her life verse was Isaiah 40:31.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Marjorie J. Bildner of Hillsdale, Michigan and Barbara E. Owen of Fresno, California; brother-in-law Jack Bildner; sister-in-law Shirley E. Moor (Throne); and lifelong friends Patti Harrigan and Wilma Gawthrop. She is survived by her daughters Kathy (Terry) Cox of Sun City Center, Florida and Nancy (Jeff) Main of Connersville, Indiana; granddaughter Michelle (David) Weaver of South Florida; great-grandchildren Shelby, Wesley, and Barrett; nephews Jack "Buzz" Bildner, Robert Bildner, Dave Moor, Mark Moor, Mike Moor, Jim Moor, and "niece" Sue Reed (Scoville), and their families; goddaughter Amanda Fox (Reed) of Niles, Michigan; godson Jay Harrigan of Clermont, Florida; and many close friends.
The Throne family thanks Dr. Shahul Riazudeen for his dedicated and caring medical expertise that made a significant difference in Ruth's life.
In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials are to the Hobart Educational Foundation (Paul and Ruth Throne Scholarship); 32 E. 7th St.; Hobart, Indiana 46342 or charity of choice.
