Ruth Anne Horton
December 29th, 1938 - October 30th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Ruth Anne Horton, 86, of Kernersville passed away on October 30, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. Born in Hillsville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clarice (Hurst) Largen and wife of the late Alfred Sizer Horton.
If a word or a phrase could sum up Ruth's life it would be devotion - devotion to family. Family was always forefront in her mind and heart. Her first consideration was how best to care for them, putting their needs above her own. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a shining example of how to build and cherish a family. Although she will be sorely missed, we are comforted knowing she is now resting with Alfred, her lifelong love.
Ruth is survived by her children, David Horton (Scarlett), Jason Horton (Kathy), and Diana Allison (Jamie); her grandchildren, Angela Horton, Ava Horton, Jennifer Heyl-Parks (Elliott), Sarah Horton, Lauren Horton, Sydney Allison, Cole Allison; her great-grandson, Jordan Parks; her siblings, Willodean Marshall, Linda Horton, Larry Largen; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Horton and her brother, Glenn Donald Largen.
The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 W. Mountain St. Kernersville NC 27284 on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 2:00PM-3:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM with Pastor Theron Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Trellis Supportive Care for their exceptional care of Ruth.
