In Loving Memory of Arlene B Sayles
A Life dedicated to Family
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Sayles at the age of 93, on October 28th, 2025. Born on April 26th, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Max and Bernice Mueller. Arlene later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida with her late husband Donald and children, where she created a home filled with love and warmth. She departed this life leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, warmth, and generosity.
Arlene was known for her unwavering compassion, her friendly spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She shared with us the profound importance of family, showing by example how to love unconditionally. Her home was always open, a sanctuary where all felt safe, accepted as themselves. Whether offering a helping hand or sharing her wisdom, she touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arlene’s legacy lives on through her greatest accomplishment, her family: she was a loving sister to siblings Robert Mueller, Diane Cottrell, Donna Foster and Barbara Mueller. Wife to husband Donald, mother to 7 children, Daniel Sayles (deceased), Jean Hernandez (Jimmy Hernandez), Marsha Berning, Mary, Fiddelke, Annette Urquhart (Stanley Urquhart), Laura Taddonio, and Michael Sayles. She was a devoted grandmother to 22 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 35 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother to 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a shining example of compassion and community spirit, dedicating over a decade to volunteer for hospice after losing her husband and remaining steadfast in her Catholic faith.
Arlene’s laughter and gentle words brought comfort during difficult times and celebration during moments of happiness. She taught us the value of kindness and the beauty of simple gestures, reminding everyone that even the smallest acts can remind us that we are loved.
Each of us will continue to honor her memory by living out the values she exemplified every day. Arlene’s life was a testament to the power of love, and grace.
A mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Petersburg, FL at 3:00 p.m. followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025.
