Draxie Kelly Johnson
May 19th, 1937 - October 31st, 2025
Draxie Kelly Johnson, 88, of Clintwood, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was born in Clintwood, Va to the late Andrew and Mertie Kelly. Draxie was saved at an early age and was a devoted member of Blackwater Primitive Church until she moved to Fairfax, VA. She retired from Fairfax County School System in 1988 and moved to Kingsport, TN following her retirement. Draxie joined Westview Primitive Baptist Church where she faithfully attended until she was no longer able to attend. Draxie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earl Johnson; sisters, Linda Kelly, Nina Fleming, and Hazel Smallwood; brothers, Evans Kelley, Clyde Kelly, Oley Kelly, Donald Kelly, and Chester Kelly.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Marie Johnson; brothers, Danny Joe “Crockett” Kelly, Bobby Ray Kelly, and Elzie Kelly and wife Janie; special niece, Linda Kelly Williams; along with a host of friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Elder Oscar Irvin, Elder Burnice Sybert, and Elder Robert Brown officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Holston View Cemetery with Bill Williams, Nathan Jett, Connor Brown, Lydia Brown, and Ewing Kelly serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:25pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
