Thomas SawyerMay 10, 1952 - Oct 27, 2025Tom held my hand first and I held his hand last. Born in Farmingdale, NJ to Mary and Robert Sawyer, he was the 7th of thirteen children. We met while Tom was serving in the Army just before being deployed to Korea in 1972, I was 15 and he was 19. Tom and I were together for 54 years, married in 1977 at St. Nicholas church in Roebling, NJ where Tom served as a trustee.Tom worked at the Roebling Steel Mill, worked for Joe Bozarth who taught him the trade of a machinist. He also worked for Langston, PIW, Church & Dwight, Cardinal Health and Ocean Spray before retiring from Robert Bosch in 2016.Tom lived for his family and could fix anything. He lived with the kind of strength only a true Superman had. Although his cape was invisible, the light of Jesus shined bright. If you met him, you noticed his humor and his presence could take over a room. He was a leader and a teacher in whatever he did and was always diplomatic and fair.Tom was a disciple of Christ. His faith never floundered no matter how sick he became and he would always say “By the grace of God, I am still here”. Finding St. Paul’s church was a true blessing knowing how much the church family truly cared and prayed for him. His light did not go out the day he passed, in fact it continues to shine through the people he touched with his love of Christ.Tom is survived by the love of his life, Donna Spager Sawyer, our daughter Jessica Wilson, daughter in law, Kathy Wilson. Our son, TJ Sawyer, daughter in law, Sarah Sawyer and four grandsons, Jaxon, Blake, Oakley and Keith Sawyer. As well as his dog, Toby, who would not leave his side.I am blessed to have walked this journey with you, I thank you for loving me so deeply, for holding me so gently and being my forever. You are at peace and no longer have pain. I love you, my Tom.In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Paul’s Polish National Catholic Church at 5245 SE 112th St, Belleview, FL 34420.Services will be held privately.
