Ronald Charles “Pops” French, Sr.November 15, 1949 – October 27, 2025
Ronald Charles “Pops” French, Sr., passed away on October 27, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 75. Born on November 15, 1949, in Glens Falls, New York, Ron lived a life defined by service, integrity, and an unwavering love for his country and family.
A proud patriot and veteran of the United States Air Force, Ron devoted 20 years of his life to serving his nation with distinction. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, he was recognized with numerous awards and commendations for his leadership, commitment, and excellence. Ron embodied the core values of the Air Force—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do—and those who served alongside him knew him as a man of honor, loyalty, and deep pride in the uniform he wore. His love for America ran deep, and his service was a source of immense pride throughout his life.
Affectionately known as “Pops,” Ron’s heart was rooted in family. He cherished time spent with his loved ones and especially treasured RV trips shared with his brother Terry. An avid fisherman and horse lover, Ron often found peace in the quiet beauty of nature, where he reflected on the blessings of life, freedom, and family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen French; his parents, Art and Helen French; his brothers Harold French and Art French; and his sisters Joyce French and Bonnie (French) Harrington, whose memories remained close to his heart.
Ron is survived by his brother Terry French; sons Ron French and Brad French; daughters Stacey (Marsh) Spinelli, Jennifer Marsh, and Elly (Marsh) Kreutzer; grandchildren Anthony French, Cas Marsh, Aundrea French, Sydney (French) Klingman, Bradley French Jr., Brett Smith, Carlee (French) Wooddell, and Lucas French; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will hold his memory dear.
Ron’s legacy of service, patriotism, and love endures in the hearts of all who knew him. May his life remind us of the value of duty, the strength of family, and the pride of a true American who answered the call to serve.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3673 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island, SC 29455.
