Mementos

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sherri Lynn Overstreet, who departed this life after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She fought with grace, strength, and unwavering faith.

Born the eldest of six children, Sherri embraced the role of caregiver from the very beginning. She lovingly “parented” her younger siblings, shaping their lives with guidance, encouragement, and fierce devotion. That same fierce love would later define her remarkable journey as a mother.

At eighteen, Sherri joined the United States Air Force, determined to build a better life not just for herself but for her family. Her service afforded her opportunities to travel the world, live in new places, experience diverse cultures, and form lifelong friendships. Her time in the Air Force profoundly influenced her generous worldview and adventurous spirit.

In her twenties, Sherri became an instant mother when she welcomed her teenage sister Mary Ann to live with her in Alaska, giving her a loving home and a new start. Her family continued to grow when she embraced two bonus children, Scott and Katie, before being blessed with her three beloved children, Hailey, Jace, and Kye. Sherri’s children—all of them—were her greatest joy, and she loved them with a passion that never wavered.

Sherri later earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and dedicated herself to helping others through their struggles, offering compassion, understanding, and hope. She was a lifelong student of the world—an avid reader and writer. She published two books and completed a draft of her memoir. Energetic and active, she found peace in running and continued to pursue movement even while fighting illness.

Sherri is survived by her children, Hailey, Jace, and Kye; her siblings Christy, Billy, Mary Ann, Laura, and Michael; her stepchildren Scott and Katie; her aunts, uncle, cousins, nephews, and a soon-to-arrive first niece; as well as countless dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.

Her faith was her anchor, especially in her final years. She held close her favorite verse, Isaiah 43:1: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Sherri lived a life of service, love, and resilience. She gave all she had—again and again—and the impact of her kindness, generosity, and strength will never be forgotten. Her legacy endures in the hearts of her family, in the lives she changed, and in the love she gave so freely.

Her celebration of life will be Wednesday, November 5 at 6:30 P.M. at Windsor Vineyard Church

1450 Westwood Dr, Windsor, CO 80550
