What a man, what man!
It’s with great remorse that we share the passing of our “Popo,” Max Lawrence Lopez Sr, AKA Uncle Max. He was born April 16th 1947, in Denver, CO to Max Lopez and Benita Garcia. He passed away the afternoon of November 1st, 2025 at the age of 78.
He is survived by his 2 children, Max Lopez Jr, and Diane Ledesma, his 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as he had 13 brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Adeline, daughter Donna, and grandkids Brianna and Lila.
Max will tell you the best thing he ever did in his life was convince Adeline to marry him. They both attended CU Boulder for 1 year, before he and his wife Adeline started their family and moved back to Denver.
He worked in the HVAC industry for most of his career as an established foreman that was an integral part of his company, was the epitome of work-ethic, and always made his co-workers laugh.
He was passionate about boxing, as he was known as Punchy Lopez, and carried an impressive record that included multiple Golden Glove national titles; and he made sure everyone knew that. He was also very proud of his ability, at the weight of only 145lbs; to bench press 325lbs, deadlift 420lbs, and leg press over 500lbs, and wanted everyone to know that!
Max and Adeline built an impressive legacy consisting of several homes, and giving their children and grandchildren the opportunity to accomplish anything they want with their lives.
Like all of his siblings, Max had no filter when it came to speaking his mind and giving his opinion, even when it was inappropriate. We will always remember him for his witty comments, feisty spirit, and the ability to make everyone laugh. We will always appreciate the time and memories we shared with Max, he can never be forgotten.
