Rebecca “Becky” Louise Scott, 82, of Ocala, Florida, passed peacefully on October 26, 2025. Born on August 4, 1943, in Ocala, she remained a proud lifelong resident of her hometown.

Becky graduated from Ocala High School and later earned her Associate of Arts degree from Central Florida Community College. While she valued formal education, her lifelong learning continued far beyond classrooms. For 28 years, she dedicated her life to serving the elderly at Marion County Senior Services, where her compassion, commitment, and joyful spirit touched countless lives.

An animal lover at heart, Becky played a meaningful role in helping establish the Humane Society in Ocala. Her faith anchored her life, and she was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church from its founding in 1980 until she was no longer able to attend. She also gave generously to her community as a Salvation Army bell ringer at Christmas and as a member of the Pilot Club of Ocala.

Becky lived with a zest for life and a love for adventure. Her hobbies included camping, traveling, swimming, playing cards, talking on the phone, and enjoying monthly gatherings at Gator Joe’s. She loved music, dancing, and could often be found wherever the action was at. She delighted in thousand-piece puzzles, books, Bunko nights, and any opportunity to host or attend a celebration. The Smoky Mountains held a special place in her heart.

Above all, Becky treasured her role as “Grandma.” Her grandchildren, Teddy and Carisa, were the joy of her life. Sundays were never ordinary—each one was an adventure filled with fun, imagination, and love. She adored holidays, especially Christmas. Becky took great joy in gift-giving, shopping all year to bless others with thoughtful surprises.

Becky is preceded in death by husband Rex Scott, son Stephen Scott, brother Tom Johnson, father Wallace Johnson, and mother Eloise Johnson.

She is survived by her son, David Scott, and his wife, Rebeca of Ocala; her beloved grandchildren, Carisa and Teddy Scott of Ocala; her sister, Jacqua Ballas, and her husband, Tim of Ocala; and her nieces and nephews, Neil Ballas of Ocala and Steffany Ballas of Champaign, Illinois.

Becky will be remembered for her laughter, her servant’s heart, and the joy she brought to every gathering. Her legacy of love, generosity, and celebration lives on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of life will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11 am.
