August 16th, 1958 - November 3rd, 2025
In Loving Memory of
Jeffrey Glenn Thompson died on November 3, 2025, at his residence in Rockledge, FL. He was only 67 years old. Jeff was born on August 16, 1958.
Jeff is survived and missed by his loving wife Tina Leighty, dear friend Kevin Jeppesen, and the countless friends that grew into his “framily” (friends that are family). He will be forever cherished and remembered by his siblings: Judy Hildreth of Salem, SC, Susan & Terri McMahan of Salem, SC, Marci Purinton of Minnetonka, MN, Mark Chambers of Deltona, FL, and Scott & Mary Chambers of Delray Beach, FL.
His memory lives on with the nieces and nephews he adored: Erinne & Scott Canuel, Patrick & Hayden O’Brien, Kelly & Drew Hedlund, Jill & Jason Tomkins, Rick & Linh Purinton, Laura Chambers, Joey Purinton, Jared Thompson, Tricia Sweeney, and Drew Thompson.
Jeff was predeceased by his father, Richard Thompson, his mother, June Ganong Chambers Thompson, and his brother, Richard “Rick” Thompson, Jr.
Jeff was born in Richmond, IN and grew up in Lighthouse Point, FL. He attended Saint Andrews Prep School in Boca Raton before Duke University (1976-1980), where he was a brother in the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He then attended the Fredric G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida from 1980-1983. Jeff remained actively involved in friend groups from his alma maters until his dying days. He also adamantly supported both the Duke Blue Devils and the Florida Gators, attending multiple sporting events with friends and family.
Jeff practiced law, first with the Brevard County State Attorney’s office, and then as a family law and criminal defense attorney for almost 40 years. He was always willing to provide advice to his friends, no matter the time or place.
Everyone who knew him will remember his sense of humor, honesty, and integrity. Jeff was known to tell a great story, often punctuated with his quick wit. He was patient and demanding, generous with his time but not his money, and threw one heck of an amazing party.
His legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that no conversation is too serious for a funny comment and life should be cherished in all its humorous glory.
