Richard “Ice Man” Heath Jr., 67, of Haverstraw, NY, passed away at his home on November 9, 2025. Born July 21, 1958, in Suffern, NY, and raised his whole life in Haverstraw, NY. Richard was the beloved son of the late Richard Heath Sr. and Gloria Heath. He worked for many years as an electrician—steady, skilled, and always willing to help with a project or share his know-how. Richard was a proud member of Elks Lodge 877 and a longtime volunteer firefighter with Cosgriff Hose Company 4 in Haverstraw, NY. He made lasting friendships through his work and community involvement, and was known for his humor, reliability, and cool, easygoing nature that earned him the nickname “Ice Man.” He is survived by his two sons, Danny and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Tara; and his granddaughters, Kaylee and Sadie. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin, and his sister, Patti Anne, and was predeceased by his sister, Linda. Richard was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Nelly. He will be remembered for his down-to-earth personality, quick wit, and the steady presence he brought to those who knew him.
Services will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, located at 71 Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Richard’s memory by sharing a story, a laugh or a moment of kindness, just as he would have appreciated.
