Ressa Nan Bowlin Carter

Ressa Nan Bowlin Carter, 94, of Mt. Carmel, TN, went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2025, at Brookdale Colonial Heights after a life of love for God and others. A life filled with joy, peace, and contentment.
Ressa was born in Treadway, TN. A graduate of Hancock County High School where she was selected as valedictorian of her senior class. She had lived in Mount Carmel, TN since 1954. She was married to the late Clay W. Carter for 54 years.
A member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir and LMU Member. Ressa served as a Teacher at Liberty Hill Independent Church. A former member of Rock Bridge Baptist Church, Treadway, TN. She received the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of nine.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Stanley W. Carter: parents, Dana H. and Clara Turnmire Bowlin; sister, Bonnie Bowlin; brothers, Ellis, Kyle, and D.H. Bowlin, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Cora Carter.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Carter and wife, Anna Palenscar Carter; granddaughters, Kristen Miller and husband, T.J. and Allison Carter; great grandsons, Caden and Jeremiah Miller.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Hodges, Evangelist R. G. Rose, and Brother Ronald Adams officiating. Music will be provided by Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Bowlin Cemetery, Thorn Hill, TN formally Treadway, TN. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:20 pm. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the ministers and men of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
