Etelvina (Ete) Catuche was born on April 17, 1926, in Cauca Province in Colombia. She had one son, Alberto, who lived with her until she immigrated to the United States in 1980, with the help of her good friend, Joan Countryman. Alberto joined her shortly in 1984 followed by Martha, her future daughter-in-law. Together they had three children, Nadia, Jana, and Rodrigo, and they all lived together in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Ete was known to be gentle and caring to everyone around her, and she enjoyed taking long daily walks, taking care of the dogs, Coco and Lombardi, tending to her garden, and spending time at the beach. She was also a strong, hardworking, determined woman who spent much of her life working, her journey beginning in Colombia at the young age of 12 years old until well after her arrival to the United States where she lived out the rest of her days with her loving family.
Etelvina is survived by her son Guillermo Alberto Catuche, his wife Martha Catuche Moreno; her three grandchildren Nadia Catuche Ricks (Justin), Jana Catuche Tadesse (Nebiyat), and Rodrigo Alberto Catuche; and her great grandchildren, Logan Alberto Ricks and Ronan Anita Ricks.
Visitation/viewing will be held at Rapp Funeral & Cremation Services at 933 Gist Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00AM.
