Desert Sunset Funeral Home
Gerald Edward Weleba
February 4th, 1934 - October 30th, 2025
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Jerry sure made 1956 a year to remember: Hired on with American Airlines, married the love of his life Dorothy, moved to Arizona, and had their first child Julie. In the years following, He added Two Sons to the Family, Dale then David.
His career in the Airline industry offered the opportunity to travel, and for 31 years prior to his Retirement in 1987, We Traveled!! He took the Family to numerous cities throughout the U.S. His travel agenda took them overseas as well, always making lasting friendships along the way, many continued until his passing.
Jerry lived a life filled with Love, Laughter and Sports. Having grown up in a baseball/Sports family, the Love for sports never left him. His passion was definitely Golf. He was a phenomenal golfer, known for having Two Hole-In-Ones in the same Year! He spent countless days on the course enjoying the camaraderie, friendly competition, and hopefully some bragging rights… When Jerry wasn’t working, traveling, golfing, or being a scout leader, he also enjoyed being a Baseball/Softball Coach. He once coached a Woman’s Softball team to 2 consecutive City Championships. (Talk about bragging rights) In his “spare” time- LOL he was an excellent painter, and freestyle artist as well.
Wherever they lived in Arizona (Mesa-Chandler-Heber or Cornville) they Always participated in, or set-up a community event to benefit somebody or something. His list of achievements in helping others is long and was well received by many.
Though he Will be deeply missed by all, let us All remember him for the generosity he provided for the years, his warmth, his humor, and his devotion to all of his Family through good times & bad.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dottie (2017), Daughter Julie (2016), and Son David (2020). He leaves behind Dale, and his Wife Kathi, 8 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Let us find comfort knowing their reunion in Heaven will bring him peace of mind. His legacy lives in the memories he provided and shared.
Thank you to All the Beehive “Family,” your compassion is unmatched. Love you!!
