Linda Lou Louise Christine Darby

Linda Lou Louise Christine Darby, 77, of Ocklawaha, FL  peacefully passed away on November 13, 2025 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Linda was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on October 28, 1948. She moved to Mt. Pocono where she worked as a waitress at Tinker Hollow, the very place where she heard Jack's laugh which started their 44 years of love. In 1994, they moved to Ocklawaha, Fl. Linda's days were filled with the joyful chaos of a bustling household, messy mornings, scraped knees, kissing boo-boo's, homework help, bedtime stories, and more love then most people experience in a lifetime. She enjoyed minimal alone time drinking her hot tea with milk and sugar while reading a Danielle Steele novel, but her favorite time was spent at the dining room table, the heart of her home, where countless meals were shared, problems were solved, and memories were made. Many loved ones sat at that table and recounted stories, sharing experiences, reminiscing, telling jokes, spreading laughter, and sometimes even tears. Linda was and still is the heart and strength of her family and a "Mom" to most people that knew her. She was a devoted wife and Mother and will be missed immensely by all the lives she touched, the kindness she inspired, and her unconditional love.  She was proceeded in death by her parents Al and Jean Simmons, her sisters Tony Nichols, Vickie Williams and Judy Fairbirn . She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jack G. Darby and children: Brenda J. Johnson and her children: Randall & Sharon Getz, Austin and Amanda Burkholder, Ashley K. Johnson-Burkholder. Kurt Douglas Johnson and his children Ethan and Samantha Johnson. Chad G. Johnson and wife Kat Johnson and their children- Sage Johnson, Seth Johnson, Connor Johnson, Emma Lou Johnson, Tyler Marsh, Krista Marsh and Riley Marsh. Brandee and Nick Starner and their children Brandon K Unruh and Jake Starner. Debra L. Fuller and her children: Taylor Shay, Benjamin Booth and Matthew Boot. Darbi M. Darby and her children Chesney Eubanks and Jack Darby. Darci M. Darby and spouse Ronnie Taylor and their children Trenton Taylor and Alyssa Taylor.  James "Jimmy" Fuller and wife Michelle Lombardi and their children Zoey Lombardi and Noah Lombardi. Stepson Jack Tavernaro. Sisters Joan Brandenburg and her children Michael and Kylie. As well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lake Weir Chamber of Commerce, 13125 E HWY 25, Ocklawaha, FL 32179 on Saturday 11/22/25 @ 1PM for friends and family. A second celebration of life will be held in PA at a later date for family and friends that can not make it to Florida.
