Marilyn Joyce (Shorthill) Mayer passed away on November 4, 2025 at age 90. Marilyn was born in Portland Oregon on March 12, 1935 to Helmer and Doris Shorthill. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1953, she married Jack Mayer in 1955 and had two sons, Jeff and Mark. She worked in office positions with Prudential Insurance and Portland General Electric, then retired in 2002 from her position as an administrative assistant in the Portland headquarters of The Standard Insurance company. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nadine Mehl (Leo). Survivors include her son Mark Mayer, and son Jeff Mayer (Cate), grandson Ben Monnes (Caley), granddaughter Sarajane Elkins (Jason), and great grandchildren, Sullivan and Elizajane Elkins. Other survivors include a brother, Kent Shorthill (Patricia) and a sister, Leslie Kolb Mastriano.
