Stanley LeRoy Schmidt
October 23rd, 1939 - November 13th, 2025
Stanley LeRoy Schmidt, 86, passed away on November 13, 2025.
He was born October 23, 1939, in Yuba City, CA, to Harvey "Swede" Schmidt and Elcie Blevins Schmidt. He graduated from Yuba City High School in 1958.
Stan lived his entire life on the family farm where he farmed almonds, peaches, and walnuts. He also grew the best tomatoes for family and friends.
In addition to farming, Stan worked as a truck driver for 21 years at FMC Chemicals and 27 years at Grower Ag Service. No one knew the back roads of Sutter County better than Stan.
Stan was an incredible and beloved father who coached baseball and softball teams and attended countless dance recitals.
His three grandchildren adored their Pop-Pop and share many memories of him carrying them through the orchard on his shoulders and helping him pick ripe, and not so ripe, produce from his amazing garden. He was so proud of each one of them.
In his free time, he enjoyed big game hunting in the wilderness with his son, Stanley James, which included one of his very favorite trips to the Yukon.
He shared a love of nature, hiking, and exploring caves with his daughter, Stephanie.
He traveled to multiple baseball stadiums and cities across the country to watch games and see the sights with his daughter, Suzanne, who made sure he attended a Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.
Stan was a lifelong Yankees fan as well as a diehard Warriors and Raiders fan. He also loved duck hunting with his best friend and duck hunting partner of 40 years, Ronald Chan.
Stan had a great sense of humor, gentle spirit, and kind heart. His work ethic was matched by none.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Schmidt.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years, Scharline Schmidt; son, Stanley James Schmidt (Renae); daughter, Stephanie Walsh (John); daughter, Suzanne Schmidt; grandchildren, Jared Schmidt, Sheyanne Schmidt Gibbs, and Dr. Hannah S. Walsh; great-grandchildren, Tinsley Gibbs and Callen Gibbs; and sister-in-law, Carol Schmidt.
Stan will be laid to rest next to his father, mother, and brother in Sutter Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
