Mary Miller, 73, of Loveland, CO sadly passed away on November 13, 2025 after two strokes.
She was born in Chicago, IL on December 5, 1951 and raised in Arlington Heights, IL. She met her husband when she walked across a dance floor and asked him why he was not asking her to dance. A year later, they were married on June 16, 1972 for 53 years. She was a secretary and admin for many years, and typed 140 wpm, but stopped in the later 70's to help her children with school. She was very proud of being a Catholic, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. She prayed the rosary faithfully. She ensured we all attended Mass with her and by her example her husband became a Catholic. She was the woman behind the man in many ways. Mary encouraged and supported her husband to pursue higher education. She liked going on our boat during the summers on Boyd Lake which sometimes included her children and grandchildren and friends. She loved going to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park during the fall to look at the colors and the animals. And several times went to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. And most special of all were the driving trips to visit family over the years.
She is the beloved wife of Jack Allen Miller II. Loving mother to Holly Marie Hostyn (Cory) Markel and Jack Allen Miller III. Loving grandmother to Christina Faith Hostyn, Kaitlyn Marie Hostyn, Amry Lynn Markel, and Charley Grace Markel. Dear sister to Patty Golterman, Michael (Nancy) Gilmore, Jim (Cathy) Gilmore, Annie Gilmore, Cathy Gilmore, Bill (Kathy) Gilmore, Peggy (Marty) Lacy, Eileen (Randy) Borre, and John Gilmore and Sister-in-Law, Dixie Gilmore. Devoted friend to Jeanie Cavanagh, Sharon Koeneman, and Laureen (Ken) Deakyne.
She was preceded by her Mom, Ann Gilmore; her Dad, Patrick Gilmore; her brother, Pat Gilmore, and her Brother-in-law, Bob Golterman.
Mary's favorite charities were St. Jude, Unbound, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Archdiocese of Denver, and the Food Bank of Larimer County.
She said prayers every night for her family and friends and will still be doing that. Our prayers for you all, as well. Most importantly, let your friends and family know you love them, because you never know when it may be too late.
If you are a believer, please pray for Mary. If you are not a believer, please pray for her and yourself. Please join us for a celebration of her life at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Loveland, CO on November 26, 2025 with a Rosary and viewing at 10:00 followed by Mass at 11:00 and a reception in the hall following the Mass.
She will be buried at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver as a spouse of her veteran husband on December 2, 2025 at 11:00. It will be very short and no one can go to the actual burial site until after 4:00 that day.
