Candie Lou Starkey, 68 of Jefferson passed away on October 31, 2025. Candie was born on September 27, 1957 to Pete and Jean (Higgins) Lechnir.

On August 15, 1987 Candie married William A. Starkey in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Throughout her life Candie loved a good story and was always ready to share one of her own, often told with the great laugh she was known for. A devoted dog lover, she cared for every four-legged friend who crossed her path. She enjoyed settling in for a good movie, especially when it was paired with her favorite treat – chocolate.

Family meant everything to her. She cherished family vacations, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She also looked forward to her special date nights with William, moments that brought her so much deep joy and deep connection.

Above all, Candie will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and the love she poured into every part of her life.

Candie is survived by her children; Aaron W. Starkey and Sarah (Jason) DeLong Grandaughter; Harper Starkey, her siblings; Linda Steinke, Bonnie (Bob) Jackson, Jon (JoAnne) Lechnir, as well as many nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson

We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
