Eugene J. Hale, Jr., age 78, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on April 16, 1947, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Gene proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 22 years, building a distinguished career defined by loyalty and integrity. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his commitment to helping others by working in the medical field, where his compassion and steady presence made a lasting impact.

Beyond his professional life, Gene was a man of many interests and passions. He especially enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments, embracing history with enthusiasm and camaraderie. He was also a cherished member of his church bell choir, where he found joy, fellowship, and a sense of peace through music.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Sara Hale; his sister, Genie Hixon; his three children, Louise, Elizabeth, and David; and their families, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his life.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Gene leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and cherished memories that his family and friends will hold close forever.
