The family of Randy Lynn Josephsen of Lincoln, California is saddened to announce his passing on November 8, 2025 at the age of 73 years. Randy died after years of dealing with chronic health conditions, and a broken heart. He unwaveringly dedicated his life to caring for his wife. Up until the end, Randy maintained his kindness, compassion, charm, strong will and toughness. Never complaining, he was more concerned for his family, friends, and especially his wife of 53 years, Kathy.
Born in Greenfield Iowa, Randy spent his early years surrounded by his mother and father, seven siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. After moving to San Fernando Valley in California with his family, Randy dominated in school and sports. He especially enjoyed baseball, football, track, scuba diving, surfing, skiing, and pretty much all outdoor sports throughout his life.
Randy met and fell in love with Kathy in 1970. It was love at first sight. They married in March of 1972. Randy and Kathy made their first home in North Hollywood, California until moving to Northern California to enjoy the great outdoors. While working at International Paper company in Weed, California, Randy hunted, fished, and explored nature under the shelter of Mt. Shasta, until joining the United States Army in 1974.
Randy and Kathy were stationed in Germany until 1977 when their tour of duty expired. He was a U.S. Army sergeant specializing in communication. While in Europe, Randy and Kathy traveled to umpteen countries with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Competing with Europe's finest shooters Randy excelled while representing America.
After leaving the service Randy and Kathy settled in Lincoln, California. Together they built their dream home. Randy’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and hard work. Randy retired from the Superior Court of California in 2019. He enjoyed working there in the maintenance department. To no one's surprise, he made friends with everyone at the courthouse, including the judges! Randy endeared himself to all who knew him.
Although Randy wouldn’t admit it, he liked being the center of attention, Randy stood out in a group. He had a light about him that was magnetic. A man of great character, Randy left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Randy will leave a mark on all of us that will never fade.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ann Josephsen; his sister Sherry Ann Josephsen Edwards; his brothers Larry Ray Josephsen and Jerry J. Josephsen; his brother in-law Larry John Edwards.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Shirley Bennett Josephsen of Lincoln, CA; his sisters Judy Karen Josephsen McAdams of Exira, Iowa, and Beckey Sue Josephsen Austin (Doug) of Penryn, CA; his brothers Terry Harvey Josephsen (Lois) of Salone, AZ and Rick Hans Josephsen (Gloria) of Spanish Fork, UT; sister in-law Leigh Josephsen (Jerry) of Buhl, ID; brother in-law Michael Vernon Bennett (Paulette) of Laveen, AZ, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who cherished him.
