John Brian Rej, 67, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on November 18, 2025. A celebration of life will take place at Christian Life Church's Brown Chapel at 2700 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Born in Casablanca Morocco, on March 2, 1958, and later raised along the shorelines of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Brian was never far from the ocean he loved. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Brian spent more than 40 years as a finance professional and was known for his dedication to his clients and community.

Brian’s passions included collecting antiques, creating and building things, making art, and supporting the artistic community. He eagerly shared his love for creativity with anyone who would listen. During his years living in New York City, Brian befriended and collaborated with many renowned contemporary artists, including Keith Haring, Mark Kostabi, and the Reverend Howard Finster. He was also an accomplished scuba diver and an adventurous world traveler.

Brian is survived by his mother, Marilyn Rej; his children, John Brandon and Kristal and their mother, Gina Rej; and his brothers, Kevin and Jonathan. Brian is now reunited with his father, John, and his brother, Erik, in Heaven. Brian will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and deep love for his family. His passion for life, adventure, and creativity was a gift to all who knew him.
