Kevin Joseph Hewitt, 70, of Lakeville, Minnesota, passed away at his home on November 17, 2025, from cardiac arrest. Born May 6, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of Frederick and Carol (Shukle) Hewitt. Raised in Eagan, Minnesota, Kevin often reflected on the strong neighborhood bonds of his childhood, which shaped his lifelong values of community and devotion. A graduate of St. Peter’s School and Henry Sibley High School, he later attended Inver Hills Community College. He worked throughout his life alongside family, operating several businesses with his brothers and, most recently, with his wife Kathy in Hewitt Enterprise and with his brother Marty in Hewitt Stucco. Known for his integrity, intelligence, and quiet steadiness, Kevin earned the respect of colleagues, friends, and family alike.

Kevin shared 24 years of partnership with his wife, Kathy Grove, in a marriage marked by love, laughter, and adventure. He cherished travel, particularly annual visits to Charleston, South Carolina, and found joy in gardening, cooking, and skiing. His bond with his late brother Marty was among the defining relationships of his life, and after Marty’s passing, Kevin honored his memory by caring devotedly for Mary and Ellora. He delighted in time spent with his granddaughter Ellora, who brought renewed purpose and joy to his days. Kevin’s friendships were deep and enduring, and he valued reunions with extended family, travel, and the simple rituals of daily life.

Kevin is survived by his wife Kathy; her daughter Mary Grove (wife to deceased brother Marty); Mary and Marty’s daughter, Kevin’s granddaughter and joy of life, Ellora Hewitt; his mother Carol; his siblings John (Deb) Hewitt, Ann (Brian) Sieg, and Jeanne (Michael) Golberg. He is also survived by sisters‑in‑law and brothers‑in‑law Lois Hesse, Karen (Stephen) Sugarman, Mary Shimon, Diana (Pierson) Hamilton, Douglas Lehnen, and David (Denise) Lehnen; nephews Daniel Golberg, Isaiah Sieg, Robert (Lei Chen) Sieg, David Sieg, Eric (Margie) Hesse, Craig (Jeanine) Hesse, Logan (Lauren) Sugarman, Frank Shimon, John (Concetta) Lehnen, Charles (Jilla Nadimi) Lehnen, Joe Lehnen, and Schuyler (Melanie) Hamilton; nieces Julia Sugarman, Michele (Joe) Marz, Tammy Shimon (Kurt Anderson), Theresa Lehnen, and Maria (Charlie) Heyer; grand‑nieces Apollonia Heyer, Danielle Anderson, Aveah Shimon, Olivia Shimon, Jocelyn Shimon, and Elle Sugarman; and grand‑nephews Matt Hesse, Dirk Hesse, Tanner Anderson, Aiden Anderson, Sebastian Hamilton, Oliver Hamilton, and Raphael Heyer. He was preceded in death by his father Frederick Hewitt, his brother Marty Hewitt, mother and father-in-law Geneva (Regenold) and Clement Lehnen, brothers‑in‑law Larry Hesse and Tom Shimon, and sister‑in‑law Judy Lehnen. Kevin leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, nature, his pets, and lifelong learning. Remembered for his humility, humor, and quiet strength that made others feel safe, valued, and loved.

Celebration of Life for Kevin Hewitt will be held on Thursday, December 4 from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at Tinucci’s Restaurant (396 21st St, Newport, MN 55055, 651‑459‑3211). We’ll begin with a time of remembrance, followed by a hearty buffet, and close with live music—because that’s what Kevin loved most.
