Mary "Sheila" Teates, 87, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. Born in Bethany, FL. Sheila was a proud Manatee High School graduate who spent her life caring for others as a licensed cosmetologist, a devoted Publix head cashier, and later a loving teacher’s aide. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church.
Sheila had a creative spirit and enjoyed ceramics, sewing and painting. She also found joy in hummingbirds. A woman of faith, she cherished her church community and deeply loved her 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert N. Teates, parents, Frank and Bessie Hendry; her, her sons, Glen Teates and Steve Wilson; her daughter-in-law, Kade Wilson; and her brothers: Robert (Bob) Hendry, William (Bill) Hendry, Howard Hendry, and Roger Hendry.
She is survived by her sons Byron (Cathy) Teates, Keith (Sheila) Wilson, Bobby (Nancy) Teates, and Brian (Samantha) Wilson, along with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sheila will be remembered for her belief in Christ, her love of her church family, her gentle heart, artistic spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
Services celebrating Sheila’s life will be held on December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, followed by burial at Bethany Cemetery.
