Elmer Cecil Daugherty Jr. 84 of Elbert, Colorado passed away at home on November 30, 2025.
Elmer was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 22, 1941 to Mary Jane Bonnel and Elmer Cecil Daugherty Sr. He attended Cleveland High School and received a Bachelor degree from Maryville College and a duel Masters from Webster College.
Elmer married Diane Nusbaum on June 6, 1965, and together they had two boys. He had a twenty year career with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and retired at the age of 41. He then accepted a job in aircraft sales for Beechcraft which necessitated the family move to Colorado. After about a year at Beechcraft he returned to police work. He then had twenty years of service for the State of Colorado which included working as a Lieutenant for the University of Colorado Health Science Center Campus Police and finally working for the Department of Corrections as an Investigator.
Elmer also was a proud member of the Army Reserves and retired as a Captain after eighteen years of service. He enjoyed playing many musical instruments especially trumpet and banjo, and loved fishing and spending time with his grand kids.
Elmer is survived by his wife Diane, sons Timothy Shawn (Gamze) and Douglas Michael (Mary Ann); four grandchildren, Payton (Ben), Emily, Colin and Kaelyn; four great grandchildren, Arya, Nova, Claire and Eli, and sister Diane O'Connor. He was predeceased by his mother and father, and brother Douglas Lee Daugherty.
Following his request, no memorial service will be held. There will be a private burial at the Elbert/Kiowa Cemetery in Elbert, Colorado.
