In Loving Memory of Marcia Fitzgibbon

Marcia Fitzgibbon, a devoted Christian and beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving night, surrounded by her extended family in Chico, California. She was 92 years old.

Born on July 6, 1933, in San Diego, California, to Ken and Vecilda Wagner, Marcia spent her early years in Niagara Falls, New York. In 1967, she courageously moved her family to Garden Grove, California, where she dedicated much of her career to the Garden Grove Unified School District’s Transportation Department. Marcia was also deeply involved with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and an avid follower of the teachings of Pastor Chuck Smith. In 1992, she retired and moved to Paradise, California, to be nearer her parents during their golden years.

Marcia was the cherished mother of her daughter Gail and son Dan, and a proud grandmother to Jason and Shawna Fitzgibbon, as well as Cory Miller. She was also great-grandmother to Jaxon and Maddox, and she adored them both. Her love for family was matched only by her passion for gardening, especially tending to her roses among the tall pines of her Paradise, California home.

A pillar of faith, Marcia was deeply involved in her church, the Christian Missionary Alliance (CMA) of Paradise, where she led Bible studies and nurtured the spiritual growth of her fellow parishioners for many years.

Despite losing her home and treasured belongings in the 2018 wildfire, Marcia’s resilience shone as she began anew in Chico, moving into her beautiful Sycamore Creek neighborhood in 2020. Her wish for her family was that her legacy continue through dedicated restoration of her beloved Paradise property. Three beautiful redwoods now reach for the skies in her memory.

She spent her final years surrounded by the warmth of family, friends and neighbors, and the beauty of her garden.

An 11:00 a.m. graveside service for Marcia, officiated by Pastor Dave Bruns, will be held Thursday, December 11th, 2025 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
