Wayne “Dobie” Trent, age 81 of Church Hill, TN entered eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Wayne was born on June 15, 1944, in Hawkins County, TN to Bill and Nadine Trent. In August of 1969, Wayne married the love of his life, Carolyn Marshall, and after 55 years of a beautiful marriage and raising their family, she preceded him in death in February of 2025.
Wayne was the co-owner/co-operator of Trent Automotive in Carters Valley for 30 years. He and his brother, Jim, worked very hard in establishing their business. They were well known in the community and known for their honest work. Wayne was a self-taught mechanic, and he loved working on vehicles. Wayne loved his family, and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be truly missed by those who know him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Trent; one brother; and four sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Penny Stidham and husband, Richard; two grandchildren, Cody Stidham and wife, Courtney, and Ally Dorton and husband, Luke; one great granddaughter, Carsyn Stidham; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A private family graveside service will be held at Mount Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Mitch Russell officiating.
