Her father passed away when she was a toddler, her mother remarried and Manuel Quinnett adopted the youngest 6. She adored her ‘daddy’ Manuel. Neva’s early life was a series of moves from one place to another, attending a different school each school year. When she was 14 she came to California with her brother Bud and his wife Ruby to live. Soon after she met Gene they sent her back to Iowa as she was only 14. Once Gene graduated from high school, he got a job, bought her a ring and sent her a train ticket home. They were married a few weeks upon her return.
Mom worked at many jobs in her life, starting as a stay at home mom caring for us kids to working in a TB sanitarium, owning a Chuck Wagon diner, Despite her lack of formal education she succeeded in the Silicon Valley electronics industry. After retirement mom and dad ran the Antioch Sr Center travel office and traveled the world. Cruises to Alaska, Mexico and through the Panama Canal, Branson music scene, Australia, New Zealand.
Once they left the travel office they split their time between Connie’s in Montana and Mia’s in California. Just prior to their 70th wedding anniversary they settled at Mia’s. Gene passed away a few months later. Mom has missed dad every day and now they are finally reunited.
