With heavy hearts, we honor the life of Greg Wiley, 56. He was a loving father and devoted spouse, whose presence brought warmth, steadiness, and joy to all who knew him. A proud Eagle Scout, he carried the Scout ideals of service, integrity, and respect throughout his life, always leading by example and offering a hand wherever it was needed.
A cancer survivor, he faced adversity with extraordinary courage. His determination, optimism, and quiet strength inspired everyone who walked alongside him through that battle and beyond.
He found his greatest peace in the mountains, breathing in pine-scented air and exploring the charm of the little towns tucked among the peaks. Whether drinking a cup of coffee on a chilly morning, finding a good Microbrew, or simply taking in the vastness of a Colorado or Montana sky, he cherished the simple beauty of those moments.
A passionate supporter of the University of Montana football team, he could often be found cheering loudly and proudly, his enthusiasm contagious to everyone around him. He recently enjoyed watching the Cat-Griz game with his brother, even though he thought his brother was cheering for the wrong team.
Some of his most treasured memories were made during summers spent on his aunt and uncle’s ranch. There, he learned the value of hard work, the joy of wide-open spaces, and the deep comfort of family roots.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and unwavering love. His spirit will continue to live on in the mountains he adored, in the traditions he passed down, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wiley, and sister Lisa Ayers. He leaves behind a loving family: His wife Shannon Cysewski Wiley(Colorado), daughter Emily (Colorado), mother Carole (Montana), his brother Mike (Montana), and nieces Erica (Montana) and Lacey (Wyoming), as well as Aunts, Uncles, and cousins of the Wiley and Chatham families.
May his memory always be a blessing.
