David A. Varner, aged 78 of Alliance Nebraska passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 30,1947 in Hyannis Nebraska. Dave was the son of Benjamin (Shorty) and Nellie Varner. He grew up in Hyannis, Nebraska and graduated from Hyannis High School in 1967. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army he worked various jobs until he found his calling in Law Enforcement. Working in Law Enforcement for over 30 years he enjoyed helping and serving his community. 

Dave was a proud father to Shawn Varner, Shane (Shelly) Varner, Tanya (Gary) Uhrich, Tonya Haller and Kaylee (Erik) Henzie. Grandfather to Cameron (Carissa) Nagaki, Katelyn Varner, Nikki Haller, Drew Varner, Keaten Uhrich, Ashlynn Henzie, Adison Henzie, and Hali Henzie. As well as a great grandfather to Aria Nagaki and Dash Nagaki.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents; Shorty and Nellie Varner, his brother; Lloyd Montogmery, sisters; Ester McKillip and Patsy Moran, nephews; Mickey Moran, Kid McKillip, and Frank McKillip.

No services will be held, only a private family gathering. Ashes will be scatted at a later date in Wyoming.
