Robert Louis Grillo, 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2025. He was born on November 16, 1940, and lived a life rich in love, laughter, music, and devotion to family.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rosario Grillo and Diana Grillo. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Grillo, who was the great love of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Janice) and their children, and Richard (Dona) and their children, all of whom he loved dearly.

Robert grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where he formed lifelong memories before spending cherished summers at his family’s home in Hopatcong, New Jersey. That special place later became his home, and it was there, in 2013, that fate brought him together with Liz. Their life together in Hopatcong was filled with time spent with family, warmth, and happiness.

In 2014, Robert and Elizabeth moved to King’s Point, where they embraced an active and joyful life together. They loved dining at the clubhouse and local restaurants, playing billiards, attending dinner dances, and enjoying entertainer tribute shows. Robert especially loved slow dancing with Liz, holding her close while listening to music. His favorite song, “Sweet Caroline,” never failed to bring a smile to his face and joy to his heart.

Robert had a playful spirit and liked to joke, and he especially loved playing card games—Deuces Wild being his favorite. He also enjoyed playing Yahtzee every Friday. Above all, he was a romantic at heart and a deeply devoted husband. His love for Liz was evident in everything he did, and their bond was one of tenderness, companionship, and unwavering devotion.

Robert will be remembered for his warm heart, his love of music and dancing, his enjoyment of simple pleasures, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to loveunconditionalmission.org.
